The bandstand seen in this photograph was replaced with a new structure in 1907. So, for it to be produced for a postcard, the date has to be one of a few years prior to this year. In July 1905 there was a large gathering at Summerfield Park by the West Birmingham and District Band of Hope Union for their annual fete or gala. Some of the events were held at Edgbaston Reservoir but prior to marching to the water, sixty-three branches mustered at Summerfield Park. Several bands were engaged for the day, including the Clarke Street E.M.S. Band, the City Police Band, and the Winson Green Salvation Army Band.¹
