Players of Heybridge Town Football Club 1907-8

This photograph of the players of Heybridge Town Football was taken at the beginning of the 1907-8 season. They look very young so perhaps ran rings around some of the old-timers. Held in the Half Moon Hotel, the club's annual meeting looked back on this season and, whilst it was stated that they obtained no trophies, the team was well up to the standard of previous years. The Club finished third in the North Essex League, with 20 points - only four points behind the champions, scoring 44 to 22 goals.¹
