"Charles Page, a Birmingham "black-lister," was found by a police-constable drunk last night in Peel Street. He was taken the lock-up and charged at the Victoria Law Courts this morning with the offence, when it was stated that this was Page's thirty-second appearance. Prisoner pleaded that he suffered from weakness in the legs, which could be testified to by the warden at Winson Green Gaol. Mr. E. H. Stringer: Did you suffer from weakness in the legs before or after you were drunk. Prisoner: Oh, before. The magistrates remanded prisoner until Thursday, with a view to seeing if he could be admitted into an inebriates' home."
